The journey

A closer look at the route

This is the classic village traverse: no summits to tick off, just four days of walking from one lived-in hamlet to the next. From Imlil you climb east to Tachdirt, the highest permanent village in the valley, then cross into Timichi — a place of stone houses, irrigation channels and terraces stacked up the hillside, reachable only on foot or by mule.

The last stage drops into the Ourika valley at Setti Fatma, where seven waterfalls tumble through a narrow gorge and the walnut trees give way to cafés along the river. Five to seven hours of walking on the longer days, a lodge bed every night, and a route built for anyone more interested in how people live up here than in altitude records.
